History
GFS started way back
in 1991 when we all met in high school. A bunch of kids who didn't quite
fit in with everybody else and shared a common love of music formed a
group to get all this rhythm and melody out of their system. What started
out as a three piece instrumental funk trio turned into a five piece rock-
funk- fusion- jazz- ambient- punk- dance- classical- swing- R&B- Rap-
and whatever else we felt like playing band.
Over the years, the line ups changed and so did the music. We all like
a pretty broad spectrum of music but around 1995-96 we all started leaning
more towards the more technologically oriented stuff. Going out to big
parties and raves (or whatever you want to call them) became more frequent
and we became exposed to all types of dance music. Jungle (or Drum &
Bass) music started to become prevalent in our stereos so it only seemed
logical that we pursue this new and still growing form of music.
So GFS, the band, became GFS Productions, the label/musical conglomerate.
A collective of musically oriented people with Joe, Justin, and Mark at
its core. And then, GFS, the band, was resurrected as Joe and Justin doing
all sorts of drum and bass. We put out a bunch of singles, a bunch of
remixes, and we were even signed to Warner
Brothers Records for bit. We learned the rough lessons of the major
label biz and in 2002 took some time to regroup and rethink our musical
vision.
Now it's basically
the old band, back together again making rock- funk- fusion- jazz- ambient-
punk- dance- classical- swing- R&B- Rap- and whatever else we feel
like. Just with more computers now. It all sorta came full circle. Read
on for more of what we do now...
